The Prince District Joint Forces Operation Drug Unit has arrested two people and seized drugs and weapons following a drug investigation in Summerside, PEI.

On October 21, 2021, police executed a search warrant at a residence in the community as part of an ongoing drug investigation. During the search, police seized 26 grams of cocaine, hydromorphone pills, weapons, and more than $20-thousand in Canadian currency. Police also seized cannabis and illegal cigarettes.

A 34-year-old woman and a 44-year-old man from Summerside were arrested at the scene. Both were later released and will be scheduled to appear in Summerside Provincial Court at a later date.

The Prince District JFO Drug Unit is comprised of members of the RCMP, Summerside Police Services, and the Kensington Police Services. The Summerside Police Major Crime Unit, Kings District RCMP Drug Unit, and RCMP Police Dog Services assisted with the execution of the search warrant.

The public plays an important role in helping to reduce, prevent and solve crime, including the trafficking of illegal drugs. Anyone with information about, or who suspects, illegal drug or firearm activity in their neighbourhood is asked to contact the Prince District Joint Forces Operations Drug Unit at 902-436-9300. The investigation is ongoing.
